Battery-powered trucks are by far the most popular choice for industrial businesses, as their benefits far outweigh those of the diesel alternative. As a result, this area is a core expertise for Morello and as battery technology continues to evolve, this will allow for even greater benefits in the future.

Advantages of high performance battery powered trucks

No air pollution: battery-powered trolleys do not pollute the air. As they are emission-free, they can be used indoors and outdoors without fear of affecting air quality. Access to all areas!

Remote monitoring: batteries, especially lithium batteries, can be configured and monitored remotely in terms of operating hours, usage, wear and tear and downtime reduction.

No noise pollution: The battery drive is infinitely quieter than diesel engines and allows for a much quieter working environment. Noise-free operation 24 hours a day. Day and night!

Cost saving: electricity is cheaper than diesel! The annual savings are significant compared to diesel-powered trucks. The cost per kilometre or mile is massively lower. No competition!

Electric traction motors have now become the first choice for most industrial enterprises, overtaking the use of hydraulic motors. Using electric motors that are controlled by PLCs and the latest generation of inverters brings multiple benefits and high efficiency.

Advantages of high performance platform trucks powered by an electric motor

Cost savings: the cost per kilometre or mile is lower than the hydraulic alternative. Electric motors driven directly by a battery or diesel generator are more efficient than a hydrostatic transmission system.

No noise pollution: electric motors are significantly quieter than hydraulic motors driven by a noisy hydraulic pump and thus reduce the noise pollution of the plant, which is particularly advantageous in 24-hour, day and night working environments.

Cleaner: electric motors have no oil to leak! The electric variant is simply cleaner and more environmentally friendly. Keeps all floors clean.

Zero routine maintenance: AC electric motors require no routine maintenance. In the event that a technician is needed, most readily available qualified electricians can provide support. Hydraulic systems need a lot of routine and emergency maintenance and require the support of a qualified hydraulic technician.

Remote monitoring: the electric motor equipped with sensors can be precisely controlled. Remote monitoring and control options provide greater accuracy and controllability, better diagnostics, overall reliability, less downtime and greater automation. This is not possible with hydraulic motors. Safety: a platform trolley powered by an electric motor guarantees a much higher level of safety than a trolley with a hydraulic motor. The electric motor has all the built-in safety features and components provided by the main manufacturers of automation components (Siemens, SICK and others). Durability: in the long term, the life of vehicles can be extended because when the time comes, it is much easier and cheaper to replace an electric motor than a hydraulic motor.

Morello trucks are now largely equipped with electric motors due to the prevailing advantages compared to alternative technologies.

Advantages of hybrid high performance trucks

Compared to an all-electric trolley, the hybrid model is a useful alternative for one particular reason: unrestricted autonomy of operation.

The operator can switch from battery power (completely emission-free) to diesel power at the flip of a switch. The Hybrid can continue working indefinitely because it does not have to stop for recharging or battery changes (removing a dead battery with a charged battery). When the hybrid trolley operates with a diesel generator, the generator powers the on-board battery. The hybrid model thus has many of the advantages of a battery-powered truck with unlimited operational autonomy.

As this option has more on-board technology, it is obviously a more costly option that needs to be assessed based on the company’s operational goals.
